Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Wilson Memorial Hospital offers cardiac and peripheral vascular services in a newly constructed, high-tech lab and suite of outpatient private rooms. The Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Lab for vascular procedures of the limbs, allows physicians to perform low-risk cardiac catheterizations, peripheral vascular interventions, along with therapeutic procedures, using the latest technology.

These expanded services allow our patients and their families to remain close to home in the friendly, family-oriented environment. By offering cardiac and other interventional diagnostic services, many patients are able to remain under the care of their family physician, especially if hospitalized.

In Wilson's Cardiac Catheterization and Vascular Intervention Lab, physicians with many different skills perform a large variety of procedures. From a cardiac perspective, doctors perform cardiac catheterizations that determine abnormalities or blockages, insert pacemakers, insert automatic implantable cardiac defibulators and perform transesphogeal echos in the throat and upper body area. Non-cardiac procedures involving the peripheral vascular system include arteriorgrams or angiograms, of all vessels, as well as angioplasty, stenting, athrectomy and cryoplasty of the vessels. Both temporary and permanent medical filters for blood clots can be placed in the legs at our facility.

We also perform many non-vascular procedures in our lab. Some of these procedures include: vertebroplasty, nerve blocks, discograms, nephrostomy tube insertions, biliary tube insertions, dialysis vatheter insertions, AV fistula declots, picc line and port insertions.
